081: The Engineers I’m Recruiting Want H-1B Transfers and Green Cards… What Do I Do?

In this week’s Immigration Law for Tech Startups podcast, I’ll discuss how to hire people on H-1B. There is a severe shortage of engineers in Silicon Valley right now. Our phone has been ringing off the hook and we’ve been getting so many email inquiries from CEOs, HR folks, recruiters, and other people who are hiring rapidly. And these scaling technology companies are frustrated and confused because they’re not able to fill their companies as quickly as they would like to, especially after receiving a funding round.

The landscape has changed very quickly for hiring in the last several months. At the beginning of COVID, our conversations were around what if they had to lay somebody off. Now, those have transitioned into how they could hire 100 engineers in the United States within the next 12 months because they don’t know where to find qualified people to fill those roles.
